If anyone who served with my father on the Harwood, out of Mayport, FL, would care to share memories of him I would be most appreciative. Thank you. Updated by daughter Liisa Maurer 4/14/2012. ======================================== Hi Liisa, I worked at the HARWOOD ship's office as Personnelman from 1965 to 1968. I think Chief Maurer came on board sometime early 1968 and we were both on board the Harwood during its Vietnam cruise in 1968. When I shipped out and left the Harwood in December 1968 at Mayport, Don was still on board. Only one thing I can say about Chief Maurer, he was a good and kind person. Very personable and easy to get along with. If you have an email address, I can email you a picture of him which I took aboard the Harwood somewhere in the Tonkin Gulf in 1968.
